Dental Bridges to Replace Missing Teeth

Bridges

Roderick Garcia, DMD cosmetic and family dentist is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. Dr. Garcia has practiced dentistry since 1983 and provides a full and complete range of dental procedures for his patients including dental bridges.

Dental bridges are used to replace missing teeth by utilizing the adjacent teeth to the missing tooth as anchors. Dental implants are the first alternative to restore the missing tooth however if an implant is not an option, a bridge is the next best option. Dental bridges can replace one or more teeth. The dental material used for the bridge will depend on whether the bridge is in the front or back of the mouth and cosmetic considerations. In the front of the mouth, porcelain will be fused to zirconia, ceramic, or gold. In the back of the mouth, porcelain may or may not be used on zirconia or gold. Solid zirconia bridges can be very strong and cosmetic and support a strong bite.

The dental bridge procedure takes 2 visits, the first to prepare the teeth, the impression for the dental lab, and place a temporary bridge. The second visit 10-14 days later is to place the permanent bridge and adjust it to the patient's bite. Outstanding cosmetic results can be achieved with dental bridge restorations.
