The Benefits of Snap On Dentures

Dr. Roderick A. Garcia is a practicing Cosmetic and Family Dentist in Albuquerque since 1983. Dr. Garcia provides a full range of dental procedures including snap on dentures over implants.
Snap on Dentures over implants, are dentures upper or lower that have been modified to securely and precisely snap onto previously placed implants.
The number of implants needed to secure a snap on denture will be determined by the size of the patient, bite forces applied by the patient, and whether the patient is a clencher and grinder.
The minimal number of implants is 2 but can be 4 or 6 for greater support and as needed.
The dentures are usually made before the implants are placed and then modified to fit over the implants with precision attachments to snap the dentures onto the implants once the implants are integrated into the bone.
Denture fabrication usually takes 2 to 3 weeks unless teeth are being extracted in which case the dentures are made before teeth are extracted and placed on same day of extraction.
Implants require 3 months to integrate into the bone before the snap on denture can be done.
