How Implant Supported Dentures Can Help Your Smile

Roderick A. Garcia DMD has a private dental practice located in Albuquerque N.M. where he provides Cosmetic and Family Dentistry for his patients and has done so for over 35 years. Dr. Garcia provides a full range of dental procedures including implant supported dentures.
Implant supported dentures are removable dentures that are held in place by snapping on to 2 to 4 implants strategically placed in the bone. Dentures replace all teeth upper or lower and once the dentures are made to fit the patients face, smile and the bite is established, the surgeon will place the 2 or 4 implants depending on the amount of retention needed to properly secure the dentures when the implants are engaged. The implants are allowed to heal in the bone under the dentures for 3 to 4 months after which the dentures are modified to accept locator attachments which will engage the implant abutments over the implants to secure the denture in place. Once the denture has been modified to snap on to the implant abutments, the denture will function in a very stable manner and will allow patients to eat foods they have not been able to for years. Dental cleanings for the implants will be necessary every 3 months to maintain proper health of the implants.
