What the All-On-4 method involves

The All-On-4 method is used in order to completely replace all teeth on the top or on the bottom. While the All-On-4 method does take a slightly different approach, the placement of the dental implants is still relatively the same. During an invasive surgery, four dental implants will be evenly placed under the gums and beneath the jawbone.

Once the dental implants are placed, artificial teeth will be attached to those implants. Typically, dental crowns or bridges are used to sit on top of the dental implants. After the attachment process, full functionality will be achieved again.

The recovery time for the All-On-4 method

A common worry for people considering the All-On-4 method is what the recovery period looks like. Dental implants are said to require a great deal of healing time, but the All-On-4 method tends to have an easier recovery. Because there are only four implants required to replace an entire arch, the healing process does not take nearly as long.

Aftercare for the All-On-4 method

Once dental implants are placed during the All-On-4 method, the healing process is relatively easy. Rest and relaxation are both recommended so natural healing can take place. Most dentists and oral surgeons also recommend ice or cold packs to bring down the swelling, as well as take over-the-counter medications to reduce swelling and discomfort.

Aftercare should also involve eating soft foods and adopting a liquid diet for the first few days so discomfort is avoided. Most importantly, it is necessary to follow up with the oral surgeon who performed the All-On-4 procedure so they can check the wounds to make sure that they are healing properly.
